Travel Advice

  • Parking. There is very limited on-site parking. We encourage where possible to travel by public transport or taxi.

  • Taxis. We strongly advise pre-booking taxis due to our rural location. The pick-up address is Cooper King Distillery, YO61 1EH.

    • York taxis: Fleetways 01904 365365, York Cars 01904 765765, Getaway Cars 01904 707070, Uber (will only pick-up from York, not the distillery).

    • Local taxis: Clive Pittham 07973 119574, First Choice 07710 832175, SCL Taxis 07971 410412, Helmsley Taxis 01439 377377.

  • Buses. The No 40 Reliance bus runs from York (Station Avenue) and York (Exhibition Square) to Sutton (aka Sutton-on-the-Forest) every hour. The journey takes around 25 minutes. See the Saturday timetable here for details. The bus company can be contacted directly for queries on 01904 768262 or info@reliancebuses.co.uk.

    • Bus Stop Drop-Off Option 1 - Blackwell Ox, Sutton. Once dropped off in the village, there is a short walk along the grass verge to the distillery. Directions from bus stop: Turn left at the roundabout. Continue along the B1363, initially following a footpath and then along a grass verge until you reach the distillery. Walking time: 15-minutes (0.8 miles / 1.3 km).

    • Bus Stop Drop-Off Option 2 - Maple Lane, Huby. If you would rather avoid the walk along the roadside, you can be asked to be dropped off at the Maple Lane stop (which is a ‘locals’ stop, i.e. it is not shown on the timetable). Directions from bus stop: Head left along Stillington Road (away from the village). After 150 metres, turn right to continue down the lane until you reach the T-junction with a metal gate. Turn right and continue walking until you meet the road (Stillington Road, B1363). Turn left and walk 100 meters along the verge – the distillery is on the right. Walking time: 20 minutes (0.9 miles / 1.5 km). Click here for a walking route map.
